The Power of the Crown

I was once the Beef Princess. I've blogged about it before and even included a picture on here before. . .it was a long time ago, and about the only thing currently useful about thar distinction I'd the crown Kady gets to play with.

Moving on.

Today was Kady's day to bring something for show and tell. She very carefully and proudly took my crown, trophy, and a newspaper clipping to show the kids.

Then, after I picked Kady up, I made a phone call to my bank. I guess Kady thought I needed a little help with my request, because in the background Kady was saying, "tell them you're the beef princess!!". Then, in a little sigh and a voice full of hope, I heard, "I wish I could be the beef princess." I only wish that crown held as much power as she thinks it does. . .

An absolutely wonderful mother's day

I got to do exactly what I wanted for mother's day. We rode horses. Kady even rode with us and didn't have an asthma attack!! I'm hoping my summer involves many more days of this...

You can't argue with her logic...

"Mama, it's been raining for days!". (It has.)

"Make it stop. I want the sunshine to come out."

We need rain to make the flowers grow, Kady...

"But we need sunshine, too!!!!!"

The princess can handle it

Kady has always been more prissy and girly than I've ever dreamed of being. The child thinks pink is the only acceptable color. I've often wondered if this "princess attitude" would hamper her ability to be independent. I feel much better after last weekend's events.

Kady was in the bathroom, getting ready for church, when I heard the most high-pitched, girly scream you can imagine.

"augh!! A spider!!"

This was quickly followed by her very practical, no nonsense statement of "what should I whack it with.". She then proceeded to kill the attack spider with my sneaker. You know, I'm thinking a child that can kill her own spiders is going to be ok in the world. : )

recent kady-isms

When the dance teacher mentioned the ambulance going by (with siren blaring) and said she hoped everyone was ok, kady said, "they're probably just checking to make sure no one's hurt."

When we were late to dance again...Kady said, "it's ok, mom, remember? She said last week that it's ok!"

While talking to herself on the way to church..."everyone should always do what God wants, always...and whoever has the most glitter WINS!"

While setting up chutes and ladders, "I want to play by myself, because I DON't LIKE TO LOSE!!!" Hmm, not sure where that trait comes from...
