Please excuse the rant...it had to go somewhere.

Dear Mr. Postman,

I'm not sure what has you so confused lately. Whether it's the fact that my last name AND address are posted on my mailbox or the fact that you've been delivering our mail for 4 years now, please overcome the obstacle so that I might get MY mail and NOT my neighbor's. After a long day at work, it does me no good to find medicaid notices for the neighbor's dozen kids (with a dozen last names) or their mail from their parole officer or their (continuing) unemployment benefit status or their subscription to Pit Bull Illustrated...Whatever it takes is worth it. By the way, can I interest you in a beautiful house in a wonderful neighborhood? I hear it's got great neighbors...

rambling thoughts

Note to Self: Do NOT schedule a toddler for a full day's worth of doctor's appointments 2 hours away (4 hours round trip) immediately following the time change. . .I hope we live through tomorrow. Assuming we make it there on time, Kady will see the allergist in the morning and the ear, nose, and throat doctor for the afternoon.

Did I mention we are potty-training? Pray that we have a safe (and dry) trip and a productive visit with the doctors. Also, and more importantly, my dad has hurt his hip. Let's pray that he is ok and heals swiftly. I pray that Erica's son, Rhett, gets over the flu soon and no one else in her family gets it.

Does anyone else hate the time change as much as me? It doesn't matter whether we are springing or falling, it makes no sense that we change the time. . .It's a conspiracy against moms. I'm telling ya', the government is out to get us. . .and we're too tired to do anything about it!

You may have heard about a little ice storm that happened at the end of January/beginning of February. . .Well, there are still people in our area that do not have power. The electric company crews have been fabulous at getting everyone's power up and going as fast as they can. We have had crews from Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Kansas, Pennsylvania, and probably a few other states here to help out, and we do appreciate the help! Well, most of us. . .This is just sorry. The only thing I can say is that Ozarks Electric is nicer than I would have been. I would have demanded these young men pay in some sort of way. And if you're reading this from Pennsylvania (of if you're African American or if we've offended you in any other way. . .), let me extend my deepest regrets and my sincere appreciation for all you've done to help our area. We are not all like this.

Visiting utility workers harassed

A group of out-of-state electric company workers helping restore power to Madison County residents were subjected to racial epithets and other forms of harassment while in the area on Saturday.

A portion of the 100-plus crew members on loan from Pennsylvania that were helping restore power in the Boston area were concerned enough to call for help at Ozarks Electric's Fayetteville headquarters. The Washington County Sheriff's Office was then notified, and subsequently the Madison County Sheriff's Office.

According to Madison County Sheriff Phillip Morgan, the Pennsylvania crew, which had split into about three groups, had between 30 or 40 African-American workers included in the 100.
"Some kids were driving around them, waving Rebel flags and mouthing to them," Morgan said. "They showed some weapons and were supposedly intoxicated."That's just not right for those people to treat them that way. Those people came down here from Pennsylvania to help us get electricity back on, leaving their families behind, and this is how they are treated. That's just wrong."

Captain Robert Boyd, Lt. Clay Rowland and Reserve Deputy Wayne Martin responded.

Ozarks Electric chose not to press charges against the boys.

I am in serious need of an attitude adjustment.

My husband is seriously hard to get along with. If this man doesn't go back to work soon, I may have to find him a job myself. Not to mention how delicate my job situation appears. . .

There's a so-called medical professional (I'm sure he was once fired from Wal-Mart's health clinics.), who insists upon getting his way when the patient, the insurance company, and the professional (me) insist he doesn't need or qualify for services. . .

And now it's raining and very cold. . .Y'all know I don't like cold weather.

so, what's new with you? Please make me laugh.

Have you heard the one about the two men who crash their plane on a deserted island? The first guy just knows they're going to die. The second guy says to relax--they'll be fine, because he makes $100,000 a week. The first guy looks around, sees nothing to eat, and knows they will die. Again, the second guy says, "Relax. We'll be fine. I make $100,000 a week." The first guy is convinced they are going to die, and his companion is in serious denial. He looks around one more time. He sees no food, no water, and no shelter. The second guy says, "Man, I am not telling you again. I make $100,000 a week. I always tithe. My pastor will find us."

There you go. I've now offended 1/2 of you and the other 1/2 quit reading when I started whining. I appear to be over it now, but again, all laughs are greatly appreciated.
