chocolate cake and peaches: meme catch-up

Last week (or possibly longer), Erica tagged me for a fun meme.

So here we go:

1. Choose the 4th folder where I store my pictures on the computer.

2. Select the 4th picture in the folder.

3. Explain the picture.

4. Tag 4 people to do the same.

5. No cheating (cropping, editing, etc.)

This picture was taken last summer at my parents' house. It is my dad (in a somewhat dumbfounded look. . .) eating chocolate cake and canned peaches with my daughter. (Hey! Don't knock it until you've tried it!!)

I tag anyone who wants to participate! (I cheat like that all the time. . .)

Remember the night before you started a new school year? That's me. If Only I Had Super Powers tagged me. Oh, the pressure. Considering how much I value and respect her blog and considering she's a speech-language pathologist like myself, I'm trying hard to wow and amaze her. . .I know, I know--just be myself. Here goes. . .

1. I am a complete grammar and typing snob. I can not stand when people confuse "your" and "you're," etc. When you cheer, it's "yea" not "yeah." This stuff irritates me!


2. I make lots of typing and grammar mistakes. Complete double-standard. I'm allowed. Cause I know the difference, that's why.


3. I love what I do. I am horrible at making decisions, so I didn't. I work in a setting that allows me to see people of all ages in a variety of settings. I don't know how long it will last.


4. My husband has no idea what a blog is. He has never seen nor read my blog. . .and doesn't want to.


5. I love to sing, but I refuse to sing with witnesses. My aunt once told me to be quiet. She couldn't hear my cousin's singing for my "noise." I've never really sung in front of anyone since.


6. I am an outdoorsy but clumsy girl. I love to ride horses and have ridden them all my life. I had fun skiing, but it's a wonder I didn't kill someone. I enjoy exercise, but I don't make time for it. I played basketball, softball, and ran track in school. We do take the occasional walk with the requisite pictures of the kids. If only I got the pics uploaded. . .


7. I want to adopt. (Read number 4 and DON'T TELL hubby that I told you!!!) I don't know that we'll ever be able to. . .We have started sponsoring a child in Ethiopia through Compassion International. Perhaps this will fill some of my adoption/nurturing needs. . .

Oh, Gee, the Pressure. . .

Thanks, Steph. Steph is the author of the Red Clay Diaries Blog. She is a great author, and I enjoy reading her work. . .Unfortunately, she's tagged me in a meme. Um, I'm not even sure I know what that is, but she says it is like a "chain letter, but without threat of bad luck or bodily harm." (Which is unfortunate, because I was definitely going to threaten bodily harm for tagging me. . .No, seriously, I jest. I just don't like pressure. . .) I am to list the top 5 ways blogging has changed my life. (Forgive me if I copy someone else's answers. It wasn't intentional.)
1. New friends. I have met so many people. I am thankful for you all. It's so much fun to read what everyone is going through and what perspective you have on life.
2. My perspective. I find myself doing more than just chuckling at the kids' antics. Just this morning, Kyler said one of those cute kid things, and my first thought was "I gotta blog that!"
3. Family. I think, I hope the grandparents feel a little closer to the general going-ons in our family. I don't know about other family members.
4. More introspection. (Is that the right word? Is that a word?) I tend to avoid the "deep" thoughts about myself. I don't enjoy the "psycho-babble," because I figure in the end, who really knows why we do what we do. However, God's working on me. I don't know exactly what His plans are in my case, but I definitely feel growth in my relationship with him, and from that, relationships in general.
5. Ok, that's pretty much it. Since I have to come up with 5. . .how about. . .Works for me Wednesday! (Whew. . .I didn't think I could do it!) I've learned that I can use Borax to clean dishes. I've quit buying dryer sheets (use a washcloth and essential oil instead). I use old wipes containers to store plastic baggies. The list can go on (and on).
