Thoughts from an ADHD workout
I might have missed a few hundred workouts over the holidays. Like every other chubby person out there, I jumped on the New Year's Resolution bandwagon. My mental play by play follows. Don't judge. Seriously. It's not nice.
- Let's do this.
- No, seriously, I can totally do this. I just need to buckle down and lose those pounds.
- Oh, look, a basketball game.
- Which way are we walking today?
- Ooh, there's people. Let's go this way.
- Music. I need music.
- I should come every day this week.
- Ooh, Facebook. I have a message.
- Music. Must have music.
- This is easy.
- Yep, start strong.
- I might have a salad tomorrow. This healthy stuff is easy.
- Why don't I do this more?
- Whoa. That guy walks funny.
- 2 points! Good job guys!
- I could never be a physical therapist! I can't get over how funny that guy walks!
- Why are all these old people walking so slow?!?
- How long have I been walking?
- My timer must be wrong.
- I like this song!
- What is up with that guy's hip?!?
- I think I run funny.
- I could come back tomorrow.
- If I run funny, how can I be so critical of someone else's gait?
- Supper. Hmm, I don't have a clue.
- Wow. This is harder than I remember.
- Defense, guys! Come on!!
- I think I know her.
- Maybe I should order a pizza.
- Nope. That's not her.
- Where did that little old lady come from?
- Dude. She's kicking my butt.
- I HATE this song.
- I can totally beat her.
- I'm sweating.
- My muscles hurt.
- Crap. Now we're walking beside each other.
- This is awkward. It looks like we're together.
- A pizza might be good.
- Yes, I got her. Can't beat me.
- When did I start breathing this hard?
- Tomorrow's no good.
- Pizza. Definitely pizza.
- Where'd the hip guy go?
- Is that me I can hear breathing.
- There's where I started.
- Yeah, the day after tomorrow is no good either.
- I didn't even know I had a muscle there.
- I made it.
- Crap. My keys are over there.
- Where's the car.
- How could I have gained weight in my legs?!? They feel like they weigh 100 pounds each.
- Almost. . .t h e r e. . .
- My gym membership has to expire eventually. . .

Apologies
The truth is. . .I miss blogging. It allows me to express joy, frustration, mindless chatter in a way that is far cheaper than actual therapy. I've checked. : )
If you expect to find the answers to all of life's problems, you're probably in the wrong place. If you want to find out just how awesome my kids are or what random, insane thing my family is mixed up in now, stick around. I can wow and amaze on those terms.
So, it's going to take me some time to get the hang of this blogging thingy again. (Plus, I've found pinterest, which has significantly shortened my free time.)
I shall now leave you with the following truth. Honestly, I "borrowed" it from somewhere on the internet, but I don't remember where.

So, how've you been?
Like every other slacker around, I'm making the typical new year's resolution list. . .lose weight, blog more, yada, yada. So, if anyone's out there, I plan on sharing a little more of our crazy, wonderful life. (SO MANY CHANGES: new job, new house, summer vacations in Pennsylvania, New York, and Disneyland, a furry new member of the family, etc.) Sssooo, come on in, and stay awhile. Make yourself at home. Would you like a diet dr. pepper while you wait? : )

The Power of the Crown
I was once the Beef Princess. I've blogged about it before and even included a picture on here before. . .it was a long time ago, and about the only thing currently useful about thar distinction I'd the crown Kady gets to play with.
Moving on.
Today was Kady's day to bring something for show and tell. She very carefully and proudly took my crown, trophy, and a newspaper clipping to show the kids.
Then, after I picked Kady up, I made a phone call to my bank. I guess Kady thought I needed a little help with my request, because in the background Kady was saying, "tell them you're the beef princess!!". Then, in a little sigh and a voice full of hope, I heard, "I wish I could be the beef princess." I only wish that crown held as much power as she thinks it does. . .

Our new camper
This post is mostly for my mom, who wanted to see pictures of our new camper. Here's the full size shower...

And the bedroom...

And living area/dining as you walk in the door...

And the kitchen

And looking back towards the bedroom from the kitchen.

An absolutely wonderful mother's day
I got to do exactly what I wanted for mother's day. We rode horses. Kady even rode with us and didn't have an asthma attack!! I'm hoping my summer involves many more days of this...

You can't argue with her logic...
"Mama, it's been raining for days!". (It has.)

"Make it stop. I want the sunshine to come out."

We need rain to make the flowers grow, Kady...

"But we need sunshine, too!!!!!"

The princess can handle it
Kady has always been more prissy and girly than I've ever dreamed of being. The child thinks pink is the only acceptable color. I've often wondered if this "princess attitude" would hamper her ability to be independent. I feel much better after last weekend's events.
Kady was in the bathroom, getting ready for church, when I heard the most high-pitched, girly scream you can imagine.
"augh!! A spider!!"
This was quickly followed by her very practical, no nonsense statement of "what should I whack it with.". She then proceeded to kill the attack spider with my sneaker. You know, I'm thinking a child that can kill her own spiders is going to be ok in the world. : )

recent kady-isms
When the dance teacher mentioned the ambulance going by (with siren blaring) and said she hoped everyone was ok, kady said, "they're probably just checking to make sure no one's hurt."
When we were late to dance again...Kady said, "it's ok, mom, remember? She said last week that it's ok!"
While talking to herself on the way to church..."everyone should always do what God wants, always...and whoever has the most glitter WINS!"
While setting up chutes and ladders, "I want to play by myself, because I DON't LIKE TO LOSE!!!" Hmm, not sure where that trait comes from...

good question
We had to make a stop at the doughnut shop yesterday morning. Yes, we HAD to. I promised Kady. (And it had nothing to do with the fatty, gooey goodness that was in the doughnut shop. . .)
[wipes crumbs off shirt]
Anyway, as we're waiting in line, Kady noticed the dogcatcher in line in front of us. I didn't even know she knew what the dogcatcher's truck looked like, but apparently he sometimes stops in at the-best-babysitter-in-the-world's house to visit with her husband/talk to the kids. (I told you Paradise was a small town!)
After pointing out the dogcatcher, Kady asked, "Mom, why are there not cat catchers?"
I explained that I thought the dog catcher did double-duty, catching what needed to be caught.
Kady, however, knew that couldn't be right. After all, the dog catcher has dog paw prints painted on his truck but NO cat prints.
So. . .why are there no cat catchers? : )

kady: attitude and sass abound
Even wonder what exactly my daughter's personality would look like in the form of clothing?
[Well, pretend you have.]
Look no farther. I could not have summed up her personality better than the outfit she has on today. She's wearing pink cowboy boots, a pink and yellow tutu, and a t-shirt that reads "saw it, wanted it, had a fit, got it--Cowgirls Unlimited."
THAT is my Kady girl.

RIP Ellie
Item # 387, 423 "they" didn't tell you about before you had children:
Kady attended an awesome birthday party this weekend. It had a circus theme complete with a jump house and clowns. The clowns provided face painting and balloon animals (none of that scary clown stuff!). Kady chose a balloon elephant, which miraculously did not get popped. If this had been Kyler's balloon, he would have popped it within five minutes, had a minor meltdown, and moved on. Kady on the other hand, has named her elephant. She even tucks him in under a blankie each night.
Last night, we noticed Ellie (the balloon elephant) was slowly dying. . .or deflating for those of you still in the real world. Poor Ellie is suffering a slow, horrible death, which is traumatizing my daughter. She wakes up and immediately checks to see how Ellie is doing. We get home, and she determines how much more air Ellie has left. Unfortunately, Ellie is on his last breath (forgive the pun), and there's nothing this mama can do. . .unless someone can teach me how to make a balloon elephant in the next 12-48 hours. . .
